On June 29th, 2007, Mary Jane Queen passed away at the age of 93, leaving behind a rich legacy of music and Appalachian tradition. Shortly before she died the public was informed that she had received the National Endowment for the Arts National Folk Heritage Award, the nation's highest such honor. Aware of this celebration of her life, and surrounded by her family, she died at home.

The Queen Family was broadcast on South Carolina's ETV series "Southern Lens." The film aired on April 26 at 10 pm. See more information here.
